Advantages and strengths

The Featherlite 6200D series extension ladder is identical to the 6200 series with one exception: the rung type. The fully serrated D-shaped rungs feature a flat upper surface and a rounded lower section. This geometry provides a significantly wider and more comfortable standing platform than round rungs, reduces foot fatigue during extended periods standing on the ladder, and improves stability when the user must apply precise forces from their position. The top cross-over bar enables front raising and reinforces torsional stiffness. The exclusive 1-piece spur wheel foot assembly eliminates any mechanical play at the base. The riveted rung-to-rail connection maintains continuous fiberglass structural strength. Meets or exceeds CSA Grade 1AA, ANSI Type IAA, and OSHA. Duty rating: 375 lbs (170 kg). Use

The Featherlite 6200D series extension ladder shares all the features of the 6200 series -- top cross-over bar, front raise, 1-piece spur wheel foot, CSA Grade 1AA, 5 sizes -- with one single exception: the rung profile. This profile choice is the only reason to prefer the 6200D over the 6200, and it is directly related to the nature of the work being performed.

D-shaped rungs have a flat upper surface and a rounded lower section. The flat surface provides a significantly wider foot platform than the cylindrical section of a round rung. For a climber who goes up and down the ladder quickly and repeatedly, the difference is barely noticeable. For an electrician, plumber, door and window installer, or maintenance technician who stands on the rungs for extended minutes at each position, the comfort difference is significant: less pressure on the front of the foot, less muscle fatigue, better stability for precision work.

The 6200D is therefore the right choice for extended work at height where time spent standing on the rungs is significant. The 6200 (round rungs) is the right choice when use is primarily quick ascent and descent with no extended working time at a fixed height.
